Keep up to date with our monthly newsletter! The name of our newsletter comes from an early reference to the location of the church on Standfast Hill overlooking the mill town community below. Former Reverend Luther Starnes penned the following inspirational poem to honor the lasting (aka standfast) legacy of the historic church and its congregations– both past and present.
Let me stand on Standfast Hill, There my faith and hope refill,
Feel again God’s loving grace, And find strength for days I must face.
As I travel down life’s road, with a hard and heavy load
I know where I long to go; To that hill; that old wooded hill
In the valley down below, childhood days were filled with joy,
we were poor but God was rich; Rich in love on us he bestowed.
When the floods came roaring through, God was gracious still and true.
On that hill His house remains and each day our faith He sustains
So let me stand on Standfast Hill. There my faith and hope refill
Feel again God’s loving grace, and find strength for days I must face.
