Apple Shortbread Squares
Base:
½ cup butters softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 Teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour.
Mix butter until white. Mix in next 3 ingredients. Press into a parchment lined 8”x8” pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 15 minutes.
Filling:
3 large apples thinly sliced
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1.4 teaspoon nutmeg
Combine and coat
Topping:
1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sprinkle half of the topping over shortbread crust and then a thin layer of apples. Sprinkle remaining topping evenly on top of apples. Bake for 30 minutes. The cool thoroughly and place in refrigerator for 2 hours. To serve cut into 16 squares. Enjoy!
