On bygone Sunday mornings the working-class community of the former Daniels mill town filled the wooden pews of our historic sacred place. Gary Memorial Church is the last remaining intact vestigae of the old mill town.  Having survived the town's demise in 1968 and the devasting flood of 1972 unscathed, the future of Gary Memorial is fragile.

We hope you will join us for this unique blending of music and history  when the Howard County Historical Society presents Redd & The Paper Flowers as part of their Historic Church Concert Series.  Hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee, the group will bring their unique bluegrass sounds of Appalachian folk music. Their original and traditional tunes are reminiscent of a sound familiar to the many mill workers who were drawn from the mountains to company towns and mills such as Daniels as part of the Appalachian diaspora following WWII.

Proceeds from this event will be used to preserve stories and artifacts of Gary Memorial for future generations within a special collection at the Howard County Historical Society.
